Inspired by Land, culture, and time

Art has always been my way of honoring what is endangered and remembering what came before. Through sculpture and painting, I seek to give form to stories—some ancient, some fading, all deeply rooted in the landscapes and cultures that have shaped my life.

My journey began with a degree in history from Gonzaga University, where I first discovered the power of the past to inform the present. That curiosity led me to Florence, Italy, where I spent a year immersed in the classical traditions of sculpture. The richness of that experience continues to influence the way I approach form and texture in my own work.

The American Southwest—its expansive skies, vivid colors, and sacred silences—calls to me just as deeply. Time spent living on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation in Kansas, and with an Apache/Comanche family in Oklahoma, gave me a deep respect for Indigenous traditions, spiritual practices, and ways of seeing the world. These experiences are threads woven through both my paintings and sculptures, shaping the stories they tell.

My work has found homes in public spaces, including government centers and universities, and in parks where people can experience them as part of the everyday landscape. Notable works include; “Guardian” in Bohn Park in Lyons, CO, “Protectors” and “Cultural Crossroads” in La Verne Park, also in Lyons, CO, and a portrait sculpture installed at Kansas University, in Lawrence, KS.

Today, my studio is nestled in a quiet place near Allenspark, Colorado on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park. It is here, surrounded by natural beauty and the whispers of the past, that I continue to create—drawing inspiration from the land, the people I’ve known, and the enduring stories that still ask to be told.
